MIAMI - JUNE 30, 2006 - The law firm of Genovese Joblove & Battista, P.A. is proud to announce that Paul J. Battista, David C. Cimo, John H. Genovese, and Thomas M. Messana are among South Florida's 2006 Legal Elite, listed in the third annual edition, published in the Florida Trend magazine. Paul J. Battista specializes in all areas of complex commercial bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency matters, including related bankruptcy litigation and transactional work. Specifically, Mr. Battista routinely represents Chapter 11 debtors in possession, creditors' committees, DIP lenders, purchasers of assets and trustees in large and complex bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.
David C. Cimo specializes in all aspects of commercial litigation, creditors' rights, restructuring and bankruptcy. He represents various clients' in general commercial litigation matters including contract disputes, insurance disputes, foreclosures, commercial, landlord/tenant and collection matters.
John Genovese is head of the firm's reorganization and insolvency practice. His areas of proficiency and practice include troubled loan workouts, bankruptcy, insurance insolvencies, with an emphasis on complex bankruptcy litigation in U.S. Bankruptcy and District Courts. Mr. Genovese has also been honored for having been listed in "Best Lawyers" for 10 years or longer.
Thomas Messana leads the Bankruptcy Practice Group in Fort Lauderdale, and concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, insolvency and financial restructuring, bankruptcy-related litigation, creditors' rights, corporate reorganization and out-of-court workouts.
The selection process began last fall when lawyers were asked to name those peers they hold in the highest regard. Nominees were scored based on the number of votes they received. Votes from within their own firm were worth one point and votes from an outside firm were worth three points.
