The Bankruptcy Bar Association for The Southern District of Florida Elects Officers

MIAMI – August 24, 2006 – Genovese Joblove & Battista, P.A. is pleased to announce that John Genovese has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida and Heather Yonke has been elected Treasurer. The Annual Awards Ceremony & Installation Dinner for the 2006-2007 officers and Board of Directors were held at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove on August 22, 2006.

John Genovese is head of the firm's reorganization and insolvency practice. His areas of proficiency and practice include troubled loan workouts, bankruptcy, insurance insolvencies, with an emphasis on complex litigation in Bankruptcy and U.S. District Courts, and other complex commercial litigation. He has acted as co-counsel for the class action shareholders/noteholders in Enron Chapter 11 proceeding and related matters, which have resulted in settlements, to date, in excess of $7.1 billion.

He earned his Juris Doctorate, with distinction, from Ohio Northern University, where he was Vice President of the Student Bar Association, Best Oral Advocate and a member of the National Moot Court Team and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business, magna cum laude, from Siena College, in 1976. He has also served in the United States Army from 1968-1971.

Heather L. Yonke practices in the areas of bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She focuses her practice on Chapter 11 debtor-in-possession representation and insolvency litigation. Ms. Yonke’s experience includes complex bankruptcy claims analysis and administration and the prosecution and defense of bankruptcy avoidance actions.

She received her Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of Florida in 2002, where she was a teaching assistant for the Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy curriculums. Ms. Yonke received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1999.
